HB1547 HD2 SD3 CD2 appropriates $8 million in funding for UH Athletics for the next two fiscal years.

University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa is expecting a substantial amount of traffic heading into this weekend’s athletic events.

On Saturday night, the UH baseball team with be competing against UC Davis at 6:35 p.m. at the Les Murakami Stadium, while the men’s volleyball team will be competing against UC Santa Barbara at 7 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The men’s volleyball match on Saturday is expected to be near capacity since it is senior night, according to UH.

“We have been getting the word out to the public, and those who have been purchasing tickets or (are) season ticket holders, all of those people have been getting the same messaging, so that one to come early because it could be a little hectic,” Brent Suyama, associate director of UH Communications, said.

On March 9, three games were happening at UH Athletics simultaneously, with men’s volleyball at the Stan Sheriff Center, baseball at the Les Murakami Stadium and a tournament at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

Suyama said there were no shuttle services during those events, but this time around there will be shuttles going up and down campus.

Commuter Services is urging fans to make use of the upper campus parking zones. Parking fees vary to around $6. There will be staff and parking guards assisting with the traffic flow.

“We wanna make sure that the experience the fans get is a better one, and that they should have a lot more time enjoying what sporting event they are attending, and less stress regarding the parking situation,” Suyama said.
