The Rainbow Warriors fell short to upsetting nationally ranked UC Santa Barbara on May 19 at Les Murakami Stadium.

Hawai'i (20-27, 8-13 Big West) led 3-1 in the top of the ninth before the Gauchos (44-7, 18-3 BWC) rallied back to tie the game and force extra innings. The Gauchos added three runs in the 11th inning to earn the victory.

The 'Bows got on the board first with an RBI ground-out from senior designated hitter Maaki Yamazaki to score freshman center-fielder Scotty Scott. Freshman third baseman Dallas Duarte launched his first career home run over the left field wall in the second inning to extend UH's lead to 2-0.

The Gauchos cut the lead 2-1 in third inning after Thomas Rowan hit a sacrifice fly.

Yamazaki smacked a solo home run down the right field line in the eighth-inning to extend UH's lead to 3-1.

However, the Gauchos tied the game on a two-run RBI single from Cole Mueller in the ninth inning. UCSB proceeded to score two more runs in the 11th inning off a sacrifice fly from Marcos Castanon, and a two-run RBI single from Michael McAdoo.

Junior Logan Pouelsen got the start on the mound today, going 6.0 innings with five strikeouts and only allowing one run on four hits. Junior Dylan Thomas went 3.0 innings and allowed two runs on three hits, while striking out five batters. Senior Colin Ashworth and sophomores Jeremy Wu-Yelland and Carter Loewen all worked in extra innings for the 'Bows.

After the game, UH honored seniors Kash Koltermann, Dominic DeMiero, Yamazaki, Ashworth and Ethan Lopez.

Next up for the 'Bows is their final Big West road series at Long Beach State. First pitch of the three-game series starts on May 23 in Long Beach, California.
