Aloha Aina Unity March

Kumu Hina Wong leads a crowd of kia'i through the streets of Waikīkī during the Aloha Aina Unity march on Oct. 5.

Approximately thousands of people gathered in opposition to the Thirty Meter Telescope project through the Aloha Aina Unity March on Oct. 5. The march started from Ala Moana beach park, proceeded through Kalakaua Avenue and ended at Kapiʻolani Park.

Besides showing opposition to the TMT project on Maunakea, the march was an opportunity to show unity for all of the Aloha Aina movements.  From Ala Moana Blvd to Kapiʻolani Park, the roads were packed with people carrying Hawaiian flags on their arms and saying different Hawaiian chants.
