Rainbow Warrior junior outside hitter Colton Cowell put down nine kills as No. 2 Hawaiʻi defeated Lincoln Memorial in a 25-12, 25-14 and 25-12 sweep on Friday night at the Stan Sheriff Center.
Senior outside hitter Stijn van Tilburg contributed eight kills with no errors. Van Tilburg also moved past Jonas Umlauft (1,128) for No. 12 in all-time career kills.
It was all UH for the entire match thanks to the combined play of junior opposite Rado Parapunov and junior middle blocker Patrick Gasman with six and five kills, respectively. There were only two lead changes the entire night.
Hawai'i hit a program-record .667 during the match. UH did not commit a hitting error until Cowell hit the net while attempting to put down an overpass in set three.
Hawaiʻi returns to the Stan Sheriff Center on Sunday to square off against Lincoln Memorial in a rematch at 5 p.m.
