The University of Hawai'i Rainbow sailing team finished third at the 2019 McIntyre Team Race this weekend, hosted by Stanford in Northern California.

On Saturday, the 'Bows finished third in head-to-head action, trailing the eventual Regatta champ Stanford (15-1) and runner-up UC Santa Barbara (14-2). 10 schools took part in a single round robin on Saturday, working with 5-13 knots of wind.

Things were different on Sunday; the fleet was split in half, having a gold division and a silver division. The 'Bows finished 2-2 in the gold division and were able to punch their ticket into the championship round of final four, where the 'Bows finished 1-2 with a win against Cal Maritime.

Despite finishing third, the 'Bows still had an impressive performance on the weekend, ending up 10-6 with their only losses coming at the hands of the Stanford and UC Santa Barbara sailing squads.

The UH skippers were Mathew Butler, Michael Pacholski and Patrick Wilkinson. Crew members for the 'Bows included Danielle Ahir, Sophie Deming, Annika Garrett and Devon Stapleton.

The ‘Bows will return to the water to take part in the St. Francis Invitational in San Francisco from March 30-31.
