The University of Hawai'i coed sailing team captured the Peter Wenner Rainbow Invite this weekend at Ke'ehi Lagoon. This marked the fifth straight year the Rainbow sailors won the regatta.

Eighteen teams that represented 13 schools competed in the regatta. UH had three teams, two coed and one women's squad, that finished in three of the top seven spots.

The Rainbow Green team was led by senior captain Michael Pacholski and Devon Stapleton in the A division, while junior Patrick Wilkinson, junior Danielle Ahir and junior Shane Snow competed in the B division. Both teams had a regatta-low 119 points.

After the 'Bows trailed by one point against Cal in Day 1, the B division team led UH to victory by finishing in the top three of its final six races on Sunday.

The 'Bows white squad finished fifth with 177 points while the Rainbow Wahine placed seventh with 207 points.

The women's sailing team will compete in the Bryson Women's Intersectional on Feb. 16 and 17 in Redwood City, California. The coed team will compete in its next regatta during the McIntyre Team Race on Feb. 23 and 24, hosted by Stanford.
