All athletic activities for University of Hawaii are suspended for today after four student athletes tested positive for the coronavirus.

This comes after 140 student-athletes were tested Tuesday, September 29th before the team’s first practice in full pads. These tests are required under the department’s weekly testing program — all four players were asymptomatic and are now in isolation.

The affected areas have since been closed and are undergoing cleaning and disinfection in accordance with the university’s COVID-19 guidelines.

The Department of Health has been notified and contact tracing is underway.

The Mountain West season is still on schedule to start on October 24th, less than a month away.

An update on the situation and the resumption of team activities will be provided by early Thursday morning according to UH Athletics.
