Two players on the Wahine water polo team have been recognized by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches as Division I All-Americans.
Junior Chloe Barr was named to the third team. This is the second time Barr has been given the honor, having been named to the second team in 2015. She played in all 26 matches in the 2017 season as a utility player and scored 45 goals. Barr will also represent Australia in the FINA World League Super Final which starts on June 6, alongside Wahine teammate Julia Barton.
Sophomore Irene Gonzalez was named as an honorable mention. This is also her second time being recognized, having been named to the third team as a freshman. She appeared in 21 matches in the 2017 season and was ranked second in scoring on the team and thirteenth in the Big West Conference with 40 goals.
This is the 20th year in a row that at least one University of Hawai‘i player has earned an All-American honor.
