Rainbow Wahine Volleyball
Senior outside hitter McKenna Granato's 17 kills led the Rainbow Wahine to a a four set win 25-19, 25-17, 25-23, 25-14 over UC Davis on senior night on Nov. 16.
Senior setter Faith Ma’afala finished the night with a double-double with 22 assists and 12 digs.
Senior libero Tita Akiu finished with 18 digs on the night, making it her 25th double-digit match of the season.
Junior setter Norene Iosia was one kill away from a triple-double with 20 assist, 13 digs and nine kills.
The Rainbow Wahine finish 2018 with a 18-8 record on the season and 14-2 in Big West Conference play.
University of Hawai’i Football
The University of Hawai’i football team defeats UNLV, 35-28 on the arm of freshman quarterback Chevan Cordeiro on Nov. 17 for senior night.
The Rebels took a 28-13 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Cordeiro replaced sophomore quarterback Cole McDonald in the fourth quarter, and sparked Aloha Stadium with three touchdowns and 153 yards to complete the comeback victory for the 'Bows.
Sophomore linebacker Penei Pavihi led the way for the defense with a career high 13 tackles on the night, including two tackles for loss.
The Rainbow Warrior football team will finish its season on the road to play San Diego State on Nov. 24. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m. PST and 5:30 p.m. HST on ESPNU and ESPN 1420 AM.
Rainbow Wahine Beach Volleyball
The SandBows took the court for the first time this year at Queens Beach , winning the first match of the day 4-1, then losing in the second match 4-2 on Nov. 17.
Pani Napolean and Julia Scoles finished as runner ups for the Sandbows in the 16 team tournament with Cal Poly and UC Davis on Nov. 18.
With a back and forth match in the finals, Napolean and Scoles came up short against Cal Poly’s Chrissie Jones and Macy Gordon in a 28-25 match.
Rainbow Wahine Basketball
The Rainbow Wahine Basketball team got into the win column on Sunday with a 67-51 victory over the Seattle Red Hawks in the Bank of Hawai’i Classic.
Junior guard Julissa Tago led the Rainbow Wahine in scoring with 13 points. The Rainbow Wahine had four players score double digits as the bench outscored the Red Hawks 30-8.
The Wahine will now set focus for the Rainbow Wahine Showdown on Friday, Nov. 23 at the Stan Sheriff Center as they host American. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. HST.
Rainbow Warrior Basketball
The University of Hawai’i men’s basketball team starts the season 3-1 with a 85-68 victory over Northern Arizona on Nov. 18.
Junior forward Zigmars Raimo led the 'Bows in the paint with 17 points on the night shooting 80 percent. Junior guard Eddie Stansberry knocked down five three-pointers, finishing with 19 points on the night.
The 'Bows will now hit the road and play Utah on Thursday, Nov. 22 in the Wooden Legacy. Tip-off set for 6:30 p.m. HT on ESPN2 and ESPN 1420 AM.
