The University of Hawai’i at Mānoa unveils its renovated Campus Center Ballroom during a sneak peek, Feb. 4, 2022. The ballroom took nearly two years to finish and includes new flooring, chairs, lighting and more.

After almost two years closed, the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa Campus Center Ballroom opened for business Feb. 1, 2022.

To mark the occasion, the Meeting and Event Services office hosted a sneak peek of the upgrades Feb. 4, 2022.

“This was a major renovation,” Jacy Cutitta, MES operations coordinator, said. “Basically, it’s the structure that stayed.”

According to Cutitta, renovations started June 2020 and included new paneling for the separating and outer walls; new lighting; new technology like projectors, screens and sound system; new chairs; and new flooring.

As part of the sneak peek, MES provided registered guests with a guided tour of the upgrades, as well as available catering services.

“A lot of the guests that came today we have worked with in the past, or we’ll work with in the future, and we have good relationships around campus,” John Lopianetzky, Retail Operations director, said. “We rely on them. It’s very critical to us — our reputation, quality, consistency, creativity is a very important part of the business we do.”

Different events can be held in the ballroom like commencements, banquets, special-event lectures and more for both on-campus organizations and others based on the category assigned (Campus Center Board, student organization, Board of Regents, etc.). Once booked, event organizers can work with Retail Operations on food for the event.

To book the ballroom for an event, guests will need to have a Mazévo account for online booking or contact MES at (808) 956-4817.
