Amid turmoil in the locker room, a number of University of Hawaiʻi football players have departed the program, including team captains Chevan Cordeiro and Darius Muasau. More than a dozen scholarship players have entered the transfer portal since Aug. 1, one of the highest numbers in the Group of 5 conferences.

Cordeiro, Muasau, tailback Dae Dae Hunter, wide receiver Nick Mardner and defensive back Cameron Lockridge headline the starters who have entered the portal, with Cordeiro, Hunter, and Lockridge finding new homes at San Jose State, Liberty, and South Alabama.

Defensive back Kai Kaneshiro has stated on social media that he has retired and the school has confirmed that wide receiver Aaron Cephus is no longer on the roster. Defensive back Leonard Lee confirmed on Twitter that he was no longer on the team.

There have also been staff departures for the Rainbow Warriors, as wide receivers coach Marcus Davis was named the wide receivers coach at Georgia Southern on Dec. 27. Offensive line coach A’Lique Terry is reportedly joining the Oregon staff as an analyst.
