The `Bows soccer team played a tough game against UC Santa Barbara Thursday night at Harder Stadium that resulted in a 0-0 tie..

During the first period while UHM was taking shots on the opposing goal, UC Santa Barbara played tough, taking eight shots and one corner shot within the first period, this gave an advantage to block from UHM goalkeeper and Defensive Player Of The Week, Lauren Marquez. Marquez blocked three shots in the final 10 minutes of the first half, leaving no room for UCSB to take the lead.

Following both teams’ fouls within the first four minutes, the Rainbow Wāhine started off strong with a shot on goal at the seventh minute by midfielder Eliza Ammendolia, leading to a quick save by UCSB goalkeeper Evann Smith. Ammendolia then continued with another shot on goal at the twenty minute mark, also saved by Smith. 

Within the first half, the Rainbow Wāhine came out with four shots on the opposing goal, one corner kick, and three saves by Marquez. This gave an amazing segue into the second half in which UCSB took three more shots on goal, with the first being at the 61st minute, saved yet again by Marquez. 

Soon after, multiple attempted shots were taken by our Rainbow Wahine at the 87th minute mark resulting in one high shot, a corner kick, and one final save from Smith. Finishing off the game at the 88th minute mark Marquez blocked one last attempted shot by UCSB, allowing the game to result in a 0-0 tie. 

The Rainbow Wāhine will push on to conclude their first conference road trip of the season on Sunday at Cal Poly 9 a.m HST. The match will be streamed via ESPN+.
